In the tradition of Thich Nhat Hahn, when you walk, you walk. When you talk, you talk. And...when you eat, you eat. In this spirit, we will share a "mindful eating" experience in ceremonial silence. We will mindfully eat a vegetarian, gluten-free meal. Weather permitting, we will dine out-of-doors. Bring a light jacket, if needed.

By the way, we will save time during dessert to talk and listen.

A Pair of Sofa Chairs Rumor has it that Pat and Bill Bentz (former 1st UU Members) first donated these chairs to the auction 15+ years ago and they've remained in the UU family through several households and several different cats. Who is next to own these comfy living chairs? They are muted colors, in small stripes: beige, yellow, green, and orange - very subtle. Chairs have lived in non-smoking homes, with cats loving to curl up in them daily. 2 1 75 20

SE16 Services Tina Thonnings, E.M.P. Foot Reflexology You wouldn't believe the tension we can hold in our hands and feet! Reflexology is a general stress reducing and relaxation technique used to promote circulation, release traffic jams or tension in the body, as well as provide muscle relaxation. A cousin to acupressure and acupuncture, reflexology is a special foot (or hand) massage targeting the reflex points throughout the body which are mirrored in the feet, hands or ears. This is a 1-hour session at my North side location. Expires January 15, 2012. 1 0 60 40

Polarity includes a series of extremely gentle movements of the joints and limbs, neck, feet, and trunk. It helps clear blocked energy or tension. This is a 1-hour session at my North side location. Expires January 15, 2012. 1 0 60 40

Join us for a vegan Indian dinner with Indian wines hosted by vegan food lovers, Barbie and Megan Luna, and wine lovers, Charlie and Margaret Haldeman.
We will enjoy four courses of vegan Indian specialties such as
besan paare (spicy crackers) and kadju badun (deviled cashews), samosas with dipping sauces, chole chaat (a warm chickpea lettuce wrap), a main course with a curry, dal, rice, and naan (we haven't quite settled on the particulars....).
For dessert - maybe a Maharani cupcake (named after an Indian queen) or maybe an exotic almond coconut confection...
To accompany our Indian feast, we will explore wines produced in India.
Viticulture in India dates back to the time of the Indus Valley civilization. Due to agricultural, religious and political forces, viticulture declined. In the last 30 years, a revival in the Indian wine industry has taken place of which we will take full advantage!

SE25 Services Robert Letcher Turkish Coffee & Shortbread Cookies Delivered to You Watch Turkish coffee brewed the traditional way in your own kitchen in a brass ibrik. For larger groups, I also use a second stainless steel ibrik. Each ibrik serves 3-4 little "Turkish cups." Your $20 bid gets you 2 ibriks. Each additional $10 paid will get you an additional ibrik if desired. Coffee will include sugar but no milk. The two winning bidders also each get one batch of Terry's homemade shortbread cookies to accompany their coffee. Delivery as convenient for winning bidders and at their initiative, contingent upon Terry's and Bob's availability. Mornings suggested (brunch?), due to caffeine content, and decaf Turkish coffee is not an option. I once heard a story that said that the real cause of the Great War was that some archduke, in his haste to calm things down, ordered Turkish DECAF--and that REALLY made his opposition mad! Highest 2 bids win. 2 0 30 20

In 1980 when I bought it, I paid $46. In today's dollars that is the equivalent of about $121. The creator claimed to have dreamed about who would buy it: she said it would be a short woman with dark curly hair. Maybe you will have good dreams if you buy it. I kept a collection of soft handmade dolls in it so it has been used ever so gently. 1 0 60 30
