F12 Winter Film Festival
Invalid Image Link

A Winter Film Festival at Tom & Marilyn's home. An up close view of independent films and film festivals to help beat the winter blues. We have attended the Sundance and Slamdance film festivals in Park City, Utah for many years and will show a number of films we have seen there. A mix of short favorites from previous Winter Festivals and others we have obtained and perhaps an excellent feature film. We will provide commentary and discuss the films as they do at an actual festival. Popcorn, movie snacks, appetizers, and beverages included.

E18 Orienteering!

This sport is like a road rally in the forest. You're given a detailed
topographic map (and maybe a compass) with several control points indicated. You follow the map, reaching all the control points, in order, going as fast or as slow as you like.

I have experience teaching Orienteering from my Boy Scout days. Our local O-club presents several O-meets a year, giving elementary instruction beforehand. I'd like to take you to one where we'll have some instruction and then we'll hit the trails. After the O-meet we'll find a place to eat and compare notes. I will cover any entrance fees and the lunch afterward.

There are many O-meets on the schedule but I'm thinking of the one at the Park of Roses, Clintonville, OH.

See you on the trail.

MM14 "No Impact" Lunch
Invalid Image Link

In 2008 writer Colin Beavan and his family attempted to live for a year without making any net impact on the environment. Inspired by his book about his experience ("No Impact Man"), we will walk from our house to the Clintonville Farmer's Market (about 3/4 mile), make a selection of local and sustainably-grown produce, and return to our house to fix lunch from whatever the market has provided. Those who wish can stay after lunch to watch the 70-minute documentary made about his project. His fascinating and thought-provoking book is highly recommended as well.
