‘Caching with a Kitchen No, this isn’t a gag addition to the Service Auction revolving around disaster prepping, but rather geocaching. “What’s geocaching?”, I hear you ask. Well, geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location. These can be as small as a piece of paper in a magnetic container the size of a fingertip or larger than a five-gallon bucket. In the case of larger containers, these will often contain toys or other small items for people to trade.
Scott Kitchen will pick up the lucky adult winner at their home and take that person to breakfast (you have to start the day off right!). He will give basic instruction about how to operate a handheld GPS and take the winner around central NJ to show some of the more common hide types in a suburban to rural environment. In the case of an experienced geocacher winning, after breakfast, we’ll be off on an adventure to find as many geocaches as we can.

Three sweet potato meals There are more ways to cook sweet potatos than candying them. These favorites from the Davidson-Brown household pair the sweetness with spicy or tangy flavors. Pat Brown will provide three meals, one per month (delivered to your door!)

September: Sweet potato salad. This is a main dish salad, full of veggies with a sweet and tangy dressing, and topped with Ricotta cheese. Served with apple muffins.

October: Sweet potato patties. The sweet potatos are mashed, seasoned, and baked (healthier than frying and just as tasty) and served with pebre (Chilean salsa). Coconut bread completes the meal.

November: Spicy sweet potato soup. Sweet potatos and tomatos in a clear broth. The flavors of lime, cilantro, and curry leaves complement the sweetness. Served with flaky biscuits.

Personal Parking Spot This offering is a tradition among congregations everywhere and this is the third year we offered it to our congregation. How does never having to worry about finding a parking spot no matter how late you arrive sound? How does having a parking spot when you have all that "stuff" to carry inside. If you win this bid you will have parking privileges in the rear parking lot at 123 E. Cliff Street, in a specially marked spot for an entire year starting Sunday Feb. 26, 2014 through Saturday Feb. 24, 2015 for any UUCSH service or event. And yes, that includes Christmas Eve service. From your wonderful and very hard working Board of Trustees. Don't worry.... we have plenty of spaces in the back for special needs situations. In effect 2/26/2014-2/24/2015. 1 0 000500.0 500 .0015E7 150
