Join Julielyn, with 20+ years working in the national political movement as she gives a brief overview of what's at stake, some key progressive organizations that are doing important work around civil rights, ways that we can all get involved and does your best to answer questions. Notes + book recommendations will be shared with attendees. Light refreshments will be served. (Note: topics will NOT include the presidential race, but instead federal issues, state legislative battles, and issues around immigration, LGTBQ+ rights, healthcare, etc)

Birthdays as Milestones: A Circle for Sharing Ceremonial Ideas When we are young, getting a year older is a big deal. For children and youth, birthdays beg much celebration! However, birthdays also represent transitions. Some birthdays, like reaching double digits (10), or becoming a teenager (13), or attaining the right to vote (18) represent an attainment of new rights and responsibilities and a simultaneous surrender of ways of being, and of relating, that accompany being younger. What might it look like to integrate ritual and ceremony into children and youths' birthdays? This gathering, for up to seven children, youth, and their parents, will include a lightly structured conversation with prompts to elicit your ideas, opinions, and sentiments about how certain birthdays might go deeper than just having a celebratory party. 7 6 000025.0 25 .00015E7 15 3/8/20 1:00 PM

Snuggle Time with Ellie Biscuit, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
Ellie Biscuit is a 1.5 year-old 14 lbs ruby colored Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She and her person, FUUSB member Julielyn Gibbons, are training to be a certified therapy dog team.
Ellie B is incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves people, especially kids. Cavaliers were originally bred to be lap-warmers for European royalty, so they relish human affection and instantly make anyone they are with feel loved.
Details: Thirty minutes of snuggle time at our house in Mallets Bay with Ellie Biscuit and tea for the humans. This could include snuggles, a demonstration of Ellie B's tricks, storytime (she loves to be read to by kids and adults alike) or playtime. You decide.
When: Snuggle Sessions will be scheduled depending upon your availability either in December, January or February.
Who this is good for: You! Kids, seniors, anyone. Most folks with dog allergies are not allergic to Cavaliers, but if you have severe allergies, this might not be the best fit.
Other notes: Ellie Biscuit is fully house-trained and loves everyone. She loves to be pet, snuggled, and while she's always excited to see new people, she's very well behaved. She's never showed aggressive behavior and has been in constant professional dog training since she was 12 weeks old. Her trainers all agree that she has a bright future as a therapy dog! She is also up to date on all of her vaccinations.

Canoe or Kayak trip/instruction
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Canoe, Kayak, flatwater, whitewater? You decide. This could be a river or lake cruise or an instruction session about how to paddle a canoe or kayak or roll a kayak. I can teach you to roll a canoe if you want, but that's a little unusual. These sessions may take place with 1 or 2 people at a time, not one large group. Date to be determined, but probably June or July. Expect to spend a couple hours on the water. All equipment and snack provided. 4 1 000100.0 100 .00025E7 25
