| Wildflower Hike on Stevens Trail, Colfax | Join us for a wildflower hike on the Stevens Trail in Colfax. The 9 miles out and back trail goes down to the confluence of Secret Ravine and the North Fork of the American River. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was used as a toll road for miners. Along the trail, we will still find remnants of the mining era. The trail changes 1,735 feet in elevation and runs along the canyon wall. It has majestic scenery of the river and the forest-covered mountains across the river. A myriad of wildflowers of many hues blanket the hillside. If you have a fear of heights, this is NOT the hike for you. However, if you are comfortable on narrow trails and are aerobically fit to climb 1,735 in 4.5 miles, this hike is not to be missed!
