| Snacks and Prayer Flags |
Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods, which is a common misconception; rather, the Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion into all pervading space. Let's meet in the air conditioned Hobbs Hall and create our own prayer flags together! I will bring the supplies and you bring your creativity. | Angels in Churches Shawl |
This luxurious triangle shawl, designed by Canton artist Anne Hansen, is knitted with love by Claudia Miller in a simple garter stitch from the neck and completed with an eye-popping hem in openwork and twisted stitches evocative of angels nestled in recessed niches. The yarn, Festivus 7.0, is a squishy 3-ply yarn softly spun from 100% organic merino wool, for a warm layering piece that spans the seasons. Festivus Sport is dyed by Asylum Fibers in a luscious balsam green. The shawl measures 75 inches on the long edge. Cost of yarn is $130. A portion of proceeds from each skein sold is given by the designer directly to a Red Scarf Fundraiser scholarship recipient. | Hobbs Goose Beans |
Up for sale is a packet of approximately 40 Hobbs Goose Beans In early 1800s, Absalom Hobbs shot a goose in Lee County, a triangle on the western tip of Virginia in the Appalachian mountains. Absalom passed it on to his children, who passed it to theirs, eventually landing with Clinton Hobbs, who brought it to Kent, OH when he became a biology professor at Kent State in 1945. Hobbs, his wife Olive and their 4 children grew the beans on their Brimfield, OH property a remnant of the WWII victory gardens.
