Here Comes the SUUn! Live Auction and Dinner: May 4, 2024

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent annual Thanks4Giving Live Auction will take place in Hobbs Hall on May 4. Doors will open at 5pm; dinner is served at 6pm; and the Live Auction kicks off at 7pm. Please consider donating events, dinners, outings, services, and one-of-a-kind or unique items of special interest to be auctioned live at this event.

This year we will have a special paddle-raise item to collect donations to help repair the bell tower of our beloved Church. We will all be winners when we give something extra for this important project!

Now Accepting Donations for the Live Auction!

Donations for the Live auction will be accepted from April 7 – April 28, 2024. Be Creative! This auction will feature handcrafted items, food, seats at events to be held between May – November 2024, baskets, gifts, art, services, gift cards, tickets, and business donations. Here are some examples from prior auctions – nights at a vacation home, yard work help, a mushroom hunt, flower arrangement deliveries, so many delicious pies and baked goods, an Iron Chef Dinner party, and many more. Catalogs of prior years are always available on the auction website as well.

We can't make this auction happen without our invaluable volunteers. Please sign up online at Signupgenius. If you have any questions, email us at auction@kentuu.org or visit the auction table in Hobbs Hall from 10am - 11am between the Sunday Services during the month of April.

The auction team is always looking for new members. Working on the auction team is a great way to make new friends and get to know others in the congregation! We especially need people with communications, computer, and event planning skills! If you are interested in being a part of this group of fun and dedicated volunteers please contact us right away!

Tips for Entering Donations Online

1. Enter an estimated value and minimum bid price – you know your item better than we do and we hate to guess!
2. Pick the most appropriate category for your event or item.
3. Upload a picture of your item. You can contact auction@kentuu.org if you need help adding a picture.
4. If you are hosting an event with more than 4 guests, pick a date and time.
5. Make sure to check the "Tangible" box (Winner takes it home) if your item is a “thing” that will be collected by the top bidder.
6. Capitalize the first letter of all important words in the title (but not “and,” “the” or “by” for example).
7. Spell out numbers in titles (i.e Three Gold Rings, not 3 Gold Rings).
8. If your item or service is to be delivered, please indicate the distance radius (from Kent) within which you are willing to deliver.
9. If you require the buyer to pick up the item, note that in your description.
10. If you are hosting an event in your home or at another site not on the church campus, indicate if guests will be required to be vaccinated and/or masked.

Please note that the auction committee reserves the right to gently decline items for this auction.

Gift Certificates Are Available

Buy a gift certificate for a friend to spend at the auction like cash. Contact the auction team at auction@kentuu.org or at the auction table during coffee hour after service to purchase gift certificates. Or purchase online here and let the auction team know who your intended recipient is. The team will notify the recipient of your gift (anonymously if desired) and let them know how much extra they will have to spend at the Live and/or Online Silent Auctions.
