A movie and discussion with the experts! Co-sponsored by Carolina Tercero

Do you know how and why the war in Ukraine began? Would you like to watch a great movie-explainer together with our Ukrainian refugees-in-residence and ask them what they think about the movie?

We will watch "Winter on Fire" in Victoria Room. A discussion over tea and Ukrainian tea-treats in the courtyard will follow the viewing.

Judith Stamper, JoLynn Ibanez and Jennifer Thomas invite you to a tea in our Mesa Verde Courtyard after service. Jennifer is a bee-keeper and would like to let you know all about it with a mixed-media presentation (no live bees, no worries!) Judith and JoLynn would like to help by introducing you to the different flavors imbued in honey by the types of flowers pollinated such as orange blossom, avocado blossom and honeysuckle as well as by adding infusions such as lemon and peppermint. Once you know your favorite, you can add to a favorite tea. We will have tea style snacks. Ring in Daylight Saving time with a sunny cup of honey tea! Pulitzer Prize Play Reading and Dinner
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
Plays are meant to be read out loud. Pulitzer Prize winners effect change in the readers and listeners. Join us in a "table read" of a play. Winners will vote between "Picnic", "A Streetcar Named Desire", "The Shadow Box", "A Chorus Line", "Lost in Yonkers", "Doubt" or "August, Osage County". We will enjoy Italian food - pasta, salad and some cheesy bread and a yummy dessert. A bit of wine will make the reading more fun! These plays are "unrated" and contain hard language and subject matter but if you have kids, they can play with Chance. No need to bid for their place. 8 0 000035.0 35 .00015E7 15 2/18/23 5:00 PM N N

Japanese Samurai Covered Tea Cup
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
I wish I knew more about this piece I inherited from my aunt and uncle. They travelled the world and my uncle was stationed in Micronesia during the Vietnam War. This cup is unique, I can find nothing like it online. It is very textured, has stamps and characters inside and out and has metallic copper painted details. It has no markings indicating it is newer manufacture. This may be a very valuable piece. The Samurai art work is gorgeous. 1 1 000100.0 100 .0004E7 40 N N

Brunch and The Hours
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
There's chick flicks, is there are chick opera? This might be it! Renée Fleming makes her highly anticipated return to the Met in the world-premiere production of Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Kevin Puts’s The Hours, adapted from Michael Cunningham’s acclaimed novel. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and made a household name by the Oscar-winning 2002 film version starring Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, and Nicole Kidman, the powerful story follows three women from different eras who each grapple with their inner demons and their roles in society.

We will meet at the Loughrey's in Orange for an exquisite brunch, then go to the theater.

Wagner’s soaring masterpiece makes its triumphant return to the Met stage after 17 years. The mysterious swan knight, the virtuous duchess Elsa, falsely accused of murder, going head-to-head with the cunning sorceress Ortrud, who seeks to lay her low. Atmospheric staging that weds a striking visual style and keen dramatic insight to Wagner’s breathtaking music.

We will meet at the theater in Orange for a 9:00 start. When it is done, we will go to the Loughrey's for an exquisite lunch. This is a long opera so we are eating afterwards.

Tonk Party! Simple and fun card game with wine and appetizers
Invalid Image LinkSold

Tonk is a very simple card game, easy to learn, similar to rummy. You have 5 cards to start, you draw a card each hand and must put down all your cards to win (in groups of 3), except that if you have 49 or 50 points in your hand right after the deal you win. That’s it! This includes gambling, so you put down an ante each hand (we will use poker chips). At the end of the evening, the top players each get a prize. Includes drinks (alcoholic and other) and hors d’oeuvres. Event for adults. From 18:00 to 22:00 (6 PM to 10 PM).
