2018 Summit Beacon Services Auction
Saturday, November 3, 2018

Welcome!

Our auction is Beacon’s biggest fundraiser and a great evening for everyone, adults and kids. Lively conversation, great food, live and silent auctions, a children's party and, new this year, A RAFFLE! If you have questions about the auction, you can reach us at servicesauction@summitbeacon.org.

How Can I Participate?

Attend the party, donate, volunteer, bid in the live and silent auctions, or proxy bid (if you can’t attend the party). Or score a Services Auction Hat Trick by donating, bidding and volunteering!

To register to attend the party, proxy bid, and/or sign up for the children's party : click here

To donate: please click here

To volunteer: please email servicesauction@summitbeacon.org or visit the Services Auction table in Beacon's Lobby, when it is active in late September and October

Proxy bidding instructions - coming soon!

With the auction only 41 days away, now is the time to think about what you can donate.

Share your interests, passions or talents with the congregation. Organize an indoor or outdoor group activity. Host a meal or party centered on your favorite food, holiday or occasion. Teach others your favorite craft, game or skill. Also, consider co-hosting an event with someone else. Many hands make light work.

If you aren't sure what to offer, browse this year's catalog to see what others have offered. You can view last year's catalog here for more ideas or a reminder of last year's donations.

New for 2018!

We are always trying to make the auction more fun for everyone. New this year:

Raffles!

We will be having a raffle (maybe more than one!) to create more ways for bidders and Beacon to win!

Food and Beverage Hall!

We always get so many great contributions of foods (jams, cookies, pies...) and beverages (wine baskets, home brewed beer) that we've decided to put these all in their own room!

Shorter Live Auction!

We wanted to make the live auction more, well, lively! So we're moving a number of items to the silent auction, and trying to have a slightly shorter and more exciting live auction.

New Auctioneer!

After about 20 years (no one knows exactly how many!), our veteran auctioneer Tom Howard has retired. Daniel Cymbala, who assisted Tom last year, will be wielding the auctioneer’s gavel this year. Expect some real “groaners,” (none worse than Tom’s) and some changes, too!

    Entering Items Online

  1. Please put in an estimated value
  2. Capitalize all important words in the title (but not “and,” “the” or “by” for example).
  3. Spell out numbers in titles (i.e Three Gold Rings, not 3 Gold Rings).
  4. Pick the most appropriate category for your event or item.
  5. Put in a minimum or opening bid if you want. This will be subject to change by the auction committee, based on our experience (we want your items to do as well as possible!)
  6. Make sure to check the box (Winner takes it home?) if your item is a “thing.”
  7. All descriptions should end with a period or exclamation points, even if the description is not a sentence.
  8. If you are hosting an event with more than 4 guests, you should pick a date and time.
  9. If you're interested in hosting an event at Beacon, please check in with Karen Jackson, stewardship@summitbeacon.org, to coordinate a date and time.
  10. Putting in a picture of your item is very, very helpful.
