Get an authentic taste of Kenya! |
|
A delicious dinner showcasing foods that Kenyans enjoy.
This will be a three course dinner serving meals that Kenyans enjoy at different occasions, e.g. regular weeknight type of food, food served at weddings or Christmas, snacks served to guests visiting a home.
You will enjoy dishes such as:
- Sukuma wiki (the name translates into “push the week”): collard greens sautéed in onions, tomatoes and a savory Kenyan seasoning called Royco
- Pilau: Basmati rice with vegetables, onions and spices like cardamom and cumin
- Mahamri: Kenyan donuts that include cardamom and coconut milk
- Mchuzi: Tasty stew with meat and vegetables that is flavored with some cilantro
- Ugali: Made with corn meal into a polenta-like consistency
- Kachumbari: A side dish (or sometimes used as a condiment) that includes tomatoes, onions, cilantro, lemon juice
- Chai masala: Black tea with milk and spices
We will also have some fun activities to share interesting facts and information about Kenya, some entertaining quizzes and prizes to be won (craft items from Kenya).
Our hope is that at the end of dinner you will have enjoyed the food and have a full stomach, and know quite a bit about Kenya and its people. |
