We had the good fortune to spend 3 months in an apartment close to Florence, Italy in 2018. While we there we went to a number of terrific Tuscan restaurants with excellent cuisine and great wines. We then tried out a number of recipes along with the wines at our local apartment with satisfying results. We will provide you tasty examples of antipasti, first and second course plates, and dolci along with wines for your enjoyment. We will also share stories of our time in northern Italy and provide suggestions for places to go if you are planning a trip. You will not be disappointed! 6 0 000065.0 65 .00045E7 45 9/14/19 6:00 PM

Home rental: I will help you weigh the pros and cons of occasionally renting out your home, or just a room, to registered Airbnb travelers, help you create a listing, and advise you on how to prepare for guests.

Experience Hosting: Airbnb is looking for reliable, outgoing people to take out-of-town visitors on day hikes, give cooking or art lessons, lead docent-quality museum tours, or other fun, interesting 2-6 hour "experiences" that you might dream up. You set your own days, times, group sizes, and fees. I'll help you develop and subit a successful proposal.

Two hours of in-person consultation at my home near American River College, between March 1-May 25, or by phone any time this year, by mutual agreement. Feel free to contact me directly (UUSS Members' Directory) for more information before bidding.

STC theater and dinner
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
Join us at the Sacramento Theater Company for a play and gourmet-cooked dinner. The play is "When We Were Colored" written by Ginger Rutland a well-known Sacramento writer. The play, tells the story of a middle class black woman born and raised in the segregated south before World War II who moves West to raise her children in "integrated" California after the war. In this poignant homage to her mother, former television reporter, NPR commentator and editorial writer for The Sacramento Bee, Ginger puts her family's story on stage. See the play and you will experience the joys and the anguish of integration right here in Sacramento for an ordinary black family, living in extraordinary times.
The cook is our own renowned Toni Darling, helped out by Cynthia Shallit. Price does not include the ticket for play, but we can arrange a discounted group price. Menu will include classical New Orleans favorites (chicken jambalaya, cornbread, greens, and pecan pie).

2 Lessons - Learning to Improvise on Piano
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
About 20 years ago I had a friend show me quickly how to make chords on a piano and improvise around them. Since then I've been fooling people who hear me play thinking that I took piano lessons. I can look up the basic chords (same thing a guitar player uses) to any song and play something that sounds good alone or to sing to. I've taught for fun other people over the years and they're always shocked at how easy it is to learn. I'm NOT going to show you how to read sheet music (traditional piano lessons) but instead how to improvise around chords (no previous music experience needed at all).

Sample of me playing in this style: tiny.cc/dirkpiano

We can do the two lessons at UUSS on the piano - after service or during the week sometime. Two lessons is honestly all you will need to learn this style and practice and play on your own!

Learn about America through the eyes and ears of immigrants. “In this brash new comedy, three young Vietnamese immigrants make their way through the bewildering landscape of 1970s America, a land filled with incomprehensible language, awkward customs, and a canvas as big as a Hollywood movie. At turns hilarious, profane, exuberant, and unexpectedly touching, Vietgone uses audacious dialogue, pop culture and an action-packed road trip to breathe life into the stories of these strangers in a strange land.” We thoroughly enjoyed this play 3 years ago in Ashland, Oregon, and are eager to see it again at Capital Stage.

Includes beverage and snack at Capital Stage (1:30 to 2:00 p.m.), play (2:00 to 4:00 p.m.), CapChat with the actors (4:00 to 4:30 p.m.), and dinner afterwards (perhaps at nearby Tapa the World). Three tickets available. Transportation can be provided for up to two persons.

Hoffman Academy Premium Membership for one year at hoffmanacademy.com. "Hoffman has a master’s degree in music, has studied early childhood education, and for years taught his very own Hoffman Academy of Music. My great grand kid loves him because of his sense of humor, gentle, relevant teaching method and simple games that engage them.” If you look at the cost of private piano lessons, a well-qualified teacher will charge around $100–$200 per month, and to become proficient at playing the piano usually takes a minimum of 5 years of study. This means that, at a minimum, a traditional piano education will cost about $6,000. 1 1 000179.0 179 .0004E7 40
