First-Peoples' Convening on Climate-Forced Displacement
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Our UU Service Committee has been working internationally with indigenous people who contribute the least to climate change and are the most affected by it, being forced out of their ancestral homes by global warming. Bob Stilger and Susan Virnig were privileged to serve as facilitators for a UUSC-sponsored gathering of indigenous folks from the South Pacific islands, Alaska, Bangladesh, the Louisiana Delta, and the Quinalt Nation in WA, which took place in early October.

Join Bob and Susan to see slides of these lands being dramatically altered, to hear descriptions of the courage and resilience of these folks, and to discuss the "climate crisis" which is the term the gathering is now using, rather than "climate change." Light refreshments will be served and this will take place in the UU Church of Spokane Chapel.
