| Starting at NCAR, Wayne Itano will lead a hike to visit various places of geologic interest around Boulder. My interests are more in paleontology than in general geology, so I will emphasize the fossils that are found in various rock layers. Light brunch at the Itano house in South Boulder after. Further discussion and examining Colorado Front Range fossils at the house. We meet at 8AM and should finish by 1PM, including brunch. The most strenuous part is the walk from NCAR up and down the hills to the Mesa Trail, and maybe partway up the Mesa Trail, then back. I would call this "Boulder moderate." It is steep in places.
