Sail the historic Oyster Sloop Christeen
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Back by popular demand! Join us for a sunset cruise aboard the historic Oyster Sloop Christeen. Christeen is the oldest 40-ft gaff rigged oyster sloop in North America, built in 1883. She is beautifully restored and sails out of The WaterFront Center in Oyster Bay. The boat sails with a Captain and two crew who do all the work while your hosts Jean Marra, Lisa Moskowitz, Diana Weaving and Kim Schultze serve you wine, soda, beer and snacks (cheese, crackers, humus, veggies and fruit). The sail will last for 2 hours and cover the open space and beautiful scenery of Oyster Bay. Food and alcohol are allowed on board so you are welcome to bring other food and beverages as you desire if you want other fare than what is provided. A fun time is guaranteed for all!

Note: It is up to the captain's discretion to cancel or not due to inclement weather. Light rain usually will not cancel the sail. Sideways rain, heavy wind or thunder/lightning will postpone the event.

Sankthansaften Dinner
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
Hej! Our Dinner party goes North! Join us at our Hejm to celebrate Sankthansaften (St John’s Eve) with a dinner together as the Danes would.

We will prepare such specialities as stegt flæsk, frikadeller, smørrebrød, risalamande, grød or pandekager all followed by flødeboller and other deserts that make Denmark famous! With plenty of Carlsberg and some Akvavit.

To keep the evening going we will sing Holger Drachmann’s ‘Midsommervise’ the ode to the short Northern summer night.

It is a night charged with a special power and where evil forces are at work, it is believed that witches fly past on their broomsticks on their way to Bloksbjerg, (legendary peak from Goethe).

In order to keep those evil forces away, and in keeping with the custom for the day, an after dinner bonfire will be lit where we will place a symbolic straw witch upon the bål, accompanied by Mussorgsky’s ‘St. John’s Night on the Bare Mountain’ for the proper atmosphere!

So… Velbekomme and Skål!
Mit luftpudefartøj er fyldt med ål!

Strayhorn, Clooney and the Queen G-20

Billy Strayhorn was the ghost writer, arranger and performer for some of the best music produced by the Duke Ellington organization. Here he is, on one hand cutting a solo album in Paris, and on the other coaching a very pregnant Rosemary Clooney through some of his and the Duke's standards, with the Ellington orchestra. At the end of the hour, a modern diva does more than justice to Billy's signature tune, Lush Life, a tune so difficult Sinatra gave up on it. 1 0 000050.0 50 .0002E7 20

Warwick's voice has its full range of notes and emotions and is so expressive you'll wonder why you had not heard these tunes before. We will choose several and have our guests vote for which ones they would like to watch. The Pirates of Penzance - Lunch

To celebrate Leap Year, enjoy a delicious hot vegetarian luncheon, after which we’ll watch “The Pirates of Penzance,” This Gilbert and Sullivan operetta is the story of a 21 year old young man whose birthday is February 29th, so technically, he only has a birthday each leap year. His indenture specifies that he remain apprenticed to the pirates until his 21st birthday and therefore he must serve for another 63 years. 8 1 000060.0 60 .00025E7 25 2/28/16 1:30 PM

Wine and Divination
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Since the Dawn of Consciousness, Humankind has sought to catch a glimpse into the future. We have devised many methods to achieve this, with many failures but sometimes with coincidental successes, accidental successes, and legitimate bona fide "I have seen the future!" successes.

Please join us in a glass of wine or two to aid our foray into the unknown, murky future via "scrying," a method of divination through a fire/water/crystal meditation.

Bring a recording device or pen and paper. I will supply the rest.

This is a goal setting meditation. Come prepared!

Restorative Yoga Session
Invalid Image LinkSold
Invalid Image Link
One-hour private Restorative Yoga session for one or two participants, in your home or mine. Restorative Yoga is more like guided relaxation than it is like a traditional "hatha" yoga class. The postures are passive, using no muscular effort, and supported by props such as blankets and bolsters. There is no work, no "exercise," no stretching--simply total relaxation, which promotes deep rest and healing in the body, and balance in the nervous system. You do not need to be flexible or "in shape" or have any prior yoga experience to do this practice. I am a Yoga Alliance-registered yoga teacher at the 200-hour level with additional training in Restorative Yoga. 4 -1 000050.0 50 .0002E7 20

ADHD Consultation
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
ADHD isn't just kid-stuff! It appears in children and adults who are hyperactive and/or inattentive, but lesser known presentations are bright underachievers, people with motivation or organization problems, the class/office clown, people who act/speak before they think, people who are depressed or anxious and don't respond to common medications, people who over-abuse substances, etc., etc... If you are or if you love someone who is one of the above, considering ADHD as the underlying problem might help. Bad Advice - Husband Training
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
In a recent survey over 56% of American men didn't think that there's anything wrong with wearing underwear multiple times between washings. Less than 15% of American women didn't find that utterly repulsive. Obviously there's a disconnect here.

Hesitation, or egads the wrong answer when you ask "does this outfit make me look heavy", or "do you think my sister is prettier than me"? I can help, or at the very least make it comically, much worse.

Fall Harvest/Solstice/Halloween Gathering
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Harvest, solstice, Halloween, Octoberfest, call it what you will. We'll have a gathering (indoors and outdoors, weather permitting) to celebrate the changing of seasons with fruits of the harvest - savory home smoked meats and fowl, suitable grain and vine based beverages, chile - both vegetarian and carnivore, healthy vegetables and whatever the grill yields to chef's fancy. If moon, stars and clouds cooperate we'll have binocs and spotting scope out for star gazing. So come gather around the fires in parlor and back yard, and enjoy some good fellowship. We'll have music going, but by all means bring your guitars, ukes and voices and make a joyful noise. 25 12 000025.0 25 .0002E7 20 10/15/16 6:10 PM

We had such fun last year that we'll be repeating it again! Join us for a DIY ("do-it-yourself") afternoon in the kitchen when we’ll be exploring some “lost” home arts. Last year we made yogurt, artisanal bread, a dried herb rub, and homemade sausage. This year we'll make homemade Limoncello, fresh nut butter, quick pickles, organic granola, and a thyme-based counter cleaner. Everyone goes home with recipes and a finished product of each. 6 0 000020.0 20 .0002E7 20 4/9/17 2:00 PM

End the World Button
Invalid Image LinkInvalid Image Link
Extra large button that you get to press to end the World as we know it. It may or may not work, it's still in beta. If it works, then 10 bucks is cheap to end the world, if not then UUFH is 10 bucks closer to closing the budget gap, well, as we know it.

Sounds like a win/win to me.
